PawTask is a parent-and-child habit-formation app. The parent uses an iPhone to set their child’s school location, home location, and meal schedule; the child wears an Apple Watch (typically configured via Apple Family Setup) and earns rewards on a virtual pet by checking in to school, eating meals on time, and maintaining good handwashing and sleep habits.

Getting started

How do I set up PawTask for my child?

  1. Install the PawTask parent app on your iPhone and sign in with Apple.
  2. Pair your child’s Apple Watch using Apple Family Setup (a separate, child-only Apple ID is required).
  3. Have your child search for “PawTask” in the watch’s own App Store and install it directly from there.
  4. In the parent app, configure your child’s school location, home location, and meal times.
  5. The watch will start showing the day’s schedule and pet immediately.

Does my child need their own iPhone?

No. PawTask is designed for Apple Watch Family Setup, where a child uses an Apple Watch with their own kid Apple ID and no paired iPhone of their own.

Which Apple Watch models are supported?

Any Apple Watch that supports Family Setup and watchOS 26.2 or later.

Tasks and rewards

My child completed a task but the pet did not get XP. What happened?

Can I edit or remove a task my child already completed?

Task history is read-only by design so children cannot lose earned progress accidentally. If you need a record corrected (for example, a duplicate check-in), email us and we will help.

How is screen time managed?

PawTask itself does not enforce screen time. We recommend using Apple Family Setup’s built-in Screen Time controls in parallel with PawTask.

Privacy and data

What data does PawTask collect?

A summary: your parent account’s email address (provided by Sign in with Apple the first time you authorize the app, or a private relay address if you chose one), a watch device ID and public key, your schedule settings, and encrypted location data. Health data (handwashing, sleep) is processed entirely on the watch and never sent to our servers. The full breakdown is in our Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my account or remove a child?

You can do this directly from the parent app — both flows are immediate and do not require contacting us.

If you cannot access the parent app (lost device, locked out of Sign in with Apple), email us at dayou99.dev@gmail.com from the address tied to your account (or your Apple private relay address) and we will process the deletion within 30 days.

Can I export the data you hold for me?

Yes. Email us and we will send you a JSON export of the data tied to your account.

Troubleshooting

The watch shows “Not signed in” even though I paired it.

Try the following in order:

  1. Force-quit the watch app and reopen it.
  2. Confirm the watch is connected to Wi-Fi or cellular.
  3. In the parent app, open the child’s profile and tap “Swap for a new watch.”
  4. If none of the above work, email us with the approximate time the issue started.

PvP matchmaking is taking a long time.

PvP is real-time turn-based, so a match requires another PawTask child to be online and matchmaking at the same moment. During off-peak hours, matchmaking can take longer. We are continuing to improve this.

Account

Can multiple parents share one account?

No. The parent account is tied to one Sign in with Apple identity, and we do not plan to support multiple parents per account.

Can I manage more than one child from a single parent account?

Yes. PawTask supports multiple children — pair one Apple Watch per child from the parent app. Each watch tracks its own pet, schedule, and progress independently.
